Petition: Ban Trade with Illegal Israeli Settlements
We, the undersigned, call on the UK Government to ban all trade and investment linked to Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The UK recognises these settlements as illegal under international law, yet trade with them continues. The International Court of Justice has stated that states should not support or assist the maintenance of the occupation and should take steps to prevent trade and the investment that sustains it.
Continuing trade with settlements helps sustain an unlawful settlement economy associated with land confiscation, displacement and human rights abuses. Other countries have already acted or are advancing measures to restrict trade with settlements, demonstrating that such action is both practical and achievable.
We therefore call on the Government to:
- Ban imports from Israeli settlements.
- Prohibit UK investment in settlement-related businesses.
- Strengthen sanctions against those involved in settlement expansion.
A ban on settlement trade would be a clear and lawful step towards ensuring that the UK does not contribute to violations of international law and human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
